This group will provide a relaxed community setting in which patients with breast cancer – along with caregivers, family members, friends and anyone else interested in breast cancer – can discover strategies for optimizing health, enhancing well-being and managing stresss while battling this disease. Each session will feature a guest speaker who will bring you up to date on the latest research and wellness tips before answering questions from the audience. Sessions are held on the third Thursday of every month in the Research Institute Conference Room on the third floor of Mills Breast Cancer Institute from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Feel free to bring along your own lunch or we will have a light lunch available for purchase for $5.
Write to Heal
Write to Heal is a therapeutic writing group for patients with breast cancer. Writing through the feelings, fears and anxiety associated with breast cancer has proven to promote both physical and emotional healing. This complimentary group is open to patients with breast cancer who are newly diagnosed up to one year from diagnosis, regardless of where they receive clinical care. No writing ability is required, only the desire to put feelings into words on paper. The therapeutic writing group process allows for free expression of thought without judgment or analysis for those who choose to share. This group meets every Thursday from June 25 through August 20 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Houseworth Conference Room on the second floor of Mills Breast Cancer Institute.
